Jio Cinema Gets Record Views 147 Crore on Opening Weekend

The Indian Premier League’s opening weekend, Jio Cinema gets Record Views 147 crore (1.47 billion) video views.

Previously the streaming service owned by Jio Platforms and In September 2022, CCI approved the merger of Jio Cinema into Viacom18 both company owned by Mukesh Ambani.

Jio Cinema Gets Record Views

According to a statement released by JioCinema on Monday, this year’s inaugural weekend of the IPL 2023 was the “highest-ever.”

JioCinema gets 147 crore (1.47 Billion) views on opening weekend and get 6 crore (60 Million) unique viewers on opening weekend.

It also surpassed the IPL from the previous year and the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022 in terms of video viewers.

More than 50 million additional downloads of JioCinema app, which is streaming this year’s games without charge.

The viewership figures support Ambani’s plan, which compete with other major global entertainment companies like Walt Disney India and Sony India.

And spending billions of dollars to secure the IPL’s digital streaming rights for five years.

IPL Digital Media Rights

The IPL is a hugely popular cricket league whose digital rights were purchased by Asia’s richest man for $2.7 billion last year.

IPL TV Media Rights & Record

Jio Cinema Streaming Rights

Jio Cinema, which is controlled by Viacom18 Media Pvt., a partnership between Paramount Global and Reliance.

JioCinema was named the primary broadcaster of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in India in November 2022.

Lags and other issues with the live streams on the app led to criticism before the competition even started.

Jio Cinema was named the official digital streaming partner of the IPL in December 2022 after Viacom18 purchased the digital streaming rights through 2027 earlier in June.
